When the idea of even starting a blog cultivated in my mind. I knew I wanted its purpose to be helpful and a resource for people wanting to grow and change for the better. I had a few ideas for a name in mind.
While getting started, I set out on the search for the perfect name for my blog. I started daydreaming of the names related to the purpose I wanted it to represent. I soon realized, finding the perfect the name was an initial hurdle I did not anticipate. Even if I daydreamed of the perfect name that doesn’t mean it is searchable or available as website name or domain. Optimistically I started searching thinking my creativity would be top notch enough to take me to the finish line. To my surprise it was not as easy as it looked. (Do you know how many people have bought domain names or decided to write a blog or start a business on the internet? The answer is a lot.) I had to get creative & dig deep right from the start. With every unsuccessful search the pressure of perfection and the struggle to get a viable result started to set in. I had so many different variations some were corny, some where strong, some were weird and others were my favorites. All of the combinations of name had one thing in common. They were already taken.
I felt stone-walled and defeated. I would love to say that I was able to dig deep with in able to produce these results on my own but I can’t. I have to give the credit to the people around me who listened to me and stood by me even when I drug me feet. It took many peep talks that followed with a recommitment to recommit ands to sit down and pick the name.
The advice I heard, through all of the articles, videos, friends and family was to pick something you are passionate about or well versed in. Change has been a constant for me in my early 20’s and growth was necessary. I found myself heartbroken, jobless, crash landing in I started searching around. I was recommended a few books. One of the first books I finished reading on my accord was called “The Compound Effect”. This book started a journey of growth and change.
The blog name was in place and it was time to hit the ground running. I set up all the social media sites.
I came up with a logo and changed it a few times before ever even publishing this site or even thinking of an article.
I had a grand vison of how great I wanted it to be. It sat for over a year as I paid for the domain worrying about what I needed to do or how I was going to do it instead of just going for it and learning along the way.
The passion and the fire you see now comes form a life experience of seeing that life is to short. Some We all think we have time. Every project left undone, the stones left unturned were not your priority or feel victim to an excuse real or unreal.
Cheers to putting excuse on hold. Changing for the better, Breathing in the beauty around you, the good that is to come, exhaling out the bad and the ugly, all while eating to fuel your long journey ahead but not holding back from picking up some gummies worms on the way home to share with someone special or to hog them to your self.
*Note this name doesn’t need to be perfect it just needs to be something that you love & feel confident supporting overtime.
